Current projects
I have been studing sensorimotor control and learning of piano playing in Japan and United States. Based on my strong motivation toward resolving focal dystonia, I currently work for developing novel neurorehabilitation techniques for pianists who suffer from focal dystonia, and for uncovering neuromuscular mechanism underlying dystonic hand movements in piano playing.
Biography
In 2002, I received a bachelor degree of mechanical engineering at School of Engineering Science in Osaka University (Japan) by a simulation study regarding chaos prediction. In 2004, I got a master degree at Graduate School of Human Science in Osaka University, where I carried out a biomechanical research of piano playing. In 2008, I obtained a PhD at Graduate School of Medicine in Osaka University, where I studied effect of long-term piano training on control of mulit-joint arm movements in piano keystroke. After one year postdoc at Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan), I worked at Department of Neuroscience in University of Minnesota (USA) for two years and a half, where I extensively studied sensorimotor control of sequential finger movements in piano playing.
