By giving a three week lasting piano-training to stroke patients their motor-abilities could be signicantly altered. These are the main results of a study conducted by Dr. Sabine Schneider who taught stroke-patients playing the piano in a neurological rehabilitation clinic.

This innovative therapeutic strategy is an effective approach for the motor skill neuro-rehabilitation of stroke patients. It was now developed further for finemotor rehabilitation with some modifications to our classic piano paradigme. Furthermore parts of it will be used with movement sonification in a recent study on rehabilitation of grossmotor-skills in stroke.
