Biomechanics of piano performance
Background
Skilled motor behaviors in piano performance require long-term musical training from childhood. The structural and functional changes subserving the motor skills of pianists have been extensively investigated. However, little has been uncovered according to behavioral characteristics of piano performance.
Goals
- To elucidate motor control mechanisms and biomechanical principles of piano performance
Involved persons
Publications
- Furuya S, Altenmüller E (2013) Plasticity of movement organization in piano performance. Frontiers in Human Neuroscience (under review)
